FESTIVAL MANAGEMENT
How did you become involved in Hamswell Festival?
I founded the event with Tom. It was after meeting Jonny at uni and then visiting him on his farm that i became inspired to host the event there. It has been a dream of my mine for as long as i can remember.
What do you think makes Hamswell Festival so unique?
Hamswell is an event for the people by the people. (dont you just love cilches!). It was set up as a platfrom for up and coming talent from in and around England. It also adheres to no corporate sponsorship making it stand alone in a world built on advertisment.
What is the most memorable moment from Hamswell Festival 2006?
Sunday night stafter party.
What are you most looking forward to in Hamswell Festival 2007?
Sunday night Stafter Party! Oh... and that everyone enjoys themselves. :)
What bands, groups, collaborations, collectives/hive-minds are you involved in or have you been involved in, and are not too embarrassed to mention?
I am currently drumming for a 10 piece hip hop/soul/funk band called The Common Moral Cause. I also write, produce and perform all manner of noises and sounds (mainly breakz and Techno) as The Beatnik Freq. I was previously in an experimental electronic outfit called No re:mote but due to musical differences, lack of equipment and that fact that some crappy acoustic duo stole our name, we decided to split.
In your audio career, what, if anything, have you overcome to reach your present, sketchy status?
I have had to overcome my lack of knowledge, funding and equipment. But through learning i earned money and bought stuff.
Why did you bother? Where's the magic? What do you hope to achieve with all your mad skillz?
All i want is the opportunity to express my self through my music and to share my music with others so it maybe appriciated by those who choose to embrace it.
If you were to get out of bed today, what challenges would lie ahead for you, in your chosen field?
The greatest challenge is getting out of bed in the first place. The next is to get dressed, and so on...
What did, or do you study, and where, and why?
I'm studying Creative Music and Technology at Brunel Uni because I don't want to work and i love music.
Is there anything else you would like to mention?
I had my appendix sergically removed once. You can only perform the operation once. Infact I wouldn't have it done again, even if they said I could.
Why did the chicken cross the road?
To get to the Hamswell festival.
Correct!
Can't resist a good plug eh? There may be a career for you in advertising! Seems you were the only one to get it right... excluding Tom who obviously can't be assed to answer any questions anyway. Congrats Rich, you have won... the chicken. Yum! Save some for me ;)
